Introduction to Carburetor Cleaner

Nov 19, 2025

Carburetor cleaner is a cleaning agent primarily used for cleaning amorphous and graphitic carbon deposits on various workpieces, carburetors, and inside engines. It can also be used to clean amorphous and graphitic carbon deposits on various catalysts.

The carburetor cleaner's core solvent system consists of methanol (12%), acetone (10%), toluene (38%), and 200# solvent oil (40%), compounded with surfactants, calcium and magnesium ion chelating agents, and other additives. The concentrate is mixed with high-pressure propane propellant in a 6:4 ratio and filled into a high-pressure aerosol product. This formula has rapid penetration characteristics, dissolving amorphous carbon deposits and graphitic deposits while forming a rust-preventive film on the metal surface.
